CNA Clinic: 72 hours/pay period (Days) $17.50-$27.50
POSITION/JOB SUMMARY:
- Responsible for the overall flow of patient care. Assist providers and nurses with patient care and performing clinic duties in connection with referrals, appointments, ordering medical supplies, etc.
- The CNA is accountable and responsible for his or her professional development, knowledge, and skills through participation in continuing education and sets a good example for the profession by his or her actions.
This position is scheduled weekdays from 8:00am-5:00pm and 8:00am-7:00pm (Mon & Wed).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Uses models of patient care standards, JMHS policies, Minnesota Department of Health Guidelines, CDC, and OSHA Standards
- Recognizes environmental hazards that pertain to both patient and self, with initiation appropriate safety measures.
- Recognizes general causes of and modes of transmission of disease and identifies common methods of prevention and control and follows these methods according to JMHS policy and OSHA Standards.
- Computer skills for electronic medical record and systems for job functions
- Perform vital signs, knowledge of injection types and sites, phlebotomy and preparation for lab testing, knowledge of how to assist with minor procedures.
- Telephone messaging – take clear and concise messages, talk with patients regarding symptoms and make work-in appointment decisions. Return phone calls as directed by providers, nurse, manager or other departments.
- Demonstrates excellent critical thinking skills and reliable nursing judgement.
- Correctly recognize high, routine, and low priority messages and manages each type according to triage services protocols and workflows.
- Prioritizes and identifies appropriate next steps; receives and responds appropriately to high priority messages.
- Communicates relevant and timely patient information.
- Plans strategies and collaborates with the health care team to develop an integrated plan of care.
- Performs all aspects of work including telephone, medical messages, and medication refills accurately.
- Familiarity with the following equipment: Spirometer, Manual sphygmomanometer, Oximeter, Stethoscope, EKG, Oxygen, Metabolic Analyzer, Bladder scanner, Bedside Ultrasound, Tympanometer/audiometer, and computer.
- Collaborates, engages, and consults with provider and other members of care team.
STANDARD REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to understand and interpret instructions and documents in EMR.
- Must demonstrate effective communication skills with patients, families, medical providers, coworkers, hospital staff, and care center staff.
- Must possess organizational ability to plan and coordinate activities of the clinic and maintain accurate records.
- Computer experience and proficiency required.
- The ability to be empathetic to patients is a must.

- Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from any sort of harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.
- Supports and participates in common teamwork:
- Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction including appropriate judgment.
- Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.
- Follow up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers, patients, or residents regarding reported complaints, problems, and/or concerns.
- Promotes positive public relations with patients, residents, family members and guests.
- Completes requirements for in-service and annual training, acceptable attendance, uniform dress codes including personal hygiene.
- Other work duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Graduate
- Successful completion of nursing assistant course with an active Nursing Assistant Certification on the MN Registry.
- Prior nursing experience in a clinic or related health care environment preferred.
- Skilled in taking and interpreting basic vital signs, knowledgeable or demonstrated ability to learn phlebotomy and preparation for lab testing, assist with procedures.
- Current CPR certification required.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Requires sitting, standing, and walking for prolonged periods of time.
- Able bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently.
- Exposure to communicable disease and body fluids.
- Requires working under stress.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
