Foodservice Aide: 64-72 hours/pay period (Day/Wknd)

Job Summary

The Foodservice Aide assists the cook in the preparation and service of meals and in the dishwashing process after meals.

This position is scheduled 64-72 hours per pay period; mornings, every other weekend from 5:45am-2:00pm and rotating holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Do food preparation needed for menu according to cook’s directions
  • Communicate with co-workers to ensure the kitchen floor is swept and mopped by end of shift
  • Work productively and positively with other staff
  • Serve resident meals
  • Clean tables
  • Wash dishes
  • Do cleaning jobs as assigned each day, and any time it is needed per cook directions

May also be asked to perform the duties below:

  • Set up desserts, which includes putting food in chafing dishes and setting the tables.
  • Serve meals at the Care Center, which includes: serving residents, making coffee
  • Clean the dining rooms, which include clearing the tables and the counter area completely.
  • Do the dishwashing , which includes preparing for washing, washing dishes, and putting dishes away.
  • Stock products, which includes filling the juice machine.
  • Clean – this includes mopping the floor and dumping garbage and daily cleaning assignment.
  • Arrive at work promptly and complete the job as assigned.
  • Follow sanitation guidelines as specified in the Dietary Policy Manual.
  • Work with fellow employees to meet the objectives of the department.
  • Complete tasks per the given job schedule.
  • Work in an environment that may expose an individual to communicable disease.
  • Communicate with staff, residents, and visitors including verbal and written.
  • Use cleaning chemicals per written guidelines.
  • Lift Correctly.
  • Use equipment per written guidelines.
  • Will attend 80% of departmental, quarterly and other required meetings
  • Other duties as assigned.

Core Competencies

  • Enjoy geriatrics and possess the ability to work well with other people.
  • Basic understanding of quality food production, therapeutic nutrition and sanitation practices.

Education/Experience/Licensure

  • High school education or GED helpful but not required
  • Sufficient in reading, writing, and speaking English as needed for the job

Working Environment - Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking and frequently pulling, pushing, and bending.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds at times.
